The Battery
We only supply superior quality Deep-Cycle
Batteries with our Backup Mate Backup Kits. A deep-cycle lead-acid
battery is designed to deliver a consistent voltage as the battery
discharges. In contrast, starter batteries
(e.g. most automotive batteries) are designed to deliver sporadic
voltage spikes. A deep-cycle battery can
be discharged and recharged more frequently than an automatice battery.
Most deep cycle batteries can be
discharged up to 80% of their total charge without being damaged,
while automotive batteries will rarely rcover
if discharged beyond 50% of their total charge.
The Battery Box
The battry box is exactly what it says
it is. With the standard Backup Mate Kit you will be supplied with
a durable, plastic utility box in which to house your backup battery.
We do have an option of a "special" integrated Backup Mate
with Metal Battery Box (as depicted above). This is a limited stock
item and only on special request. While offering a very durable and
neat solution there are additional costs invovled in the manufacture
of the units.
